The Brewery Poets present new books - from

Carole Coates & Jennifer Copley

Carole Coates reads from Looking Good, (Shoestring 2009), which examines her experience of anorexia, endured when the condition was not yet named. Her first collection, The Goodbye Edition, (Shoestring 2005), followed her critical and professional writings as an academic. You will find her work in the Forward Book of Poetry, anthologies, and regularly in the literary press.

She has held a Yorkshire Arts Award – but has defected to our side now.

Jennifer Copley launches her collection, Beans in Snow, (Smokestack 2009).

Previous collections have been published by Smith Doorstop 2002) and Arrowhead (2003&2006. In 2005 she won the Ottaker's and Faber competition, was short-listed for the Strokestown Prize and became South Cumbria 's Poet Laureate. In 2007 she claimed second at the Cardiff Academi.

U A Fanthorpe valued her ‘urgent visceral work' and Carol Rumens finds in it ‘the poignancy of real lives'.
